What a pleasure and honour it was to be invited by the Thetford Singers and spend a magical evening with front-row seats, journeying through some of the most iconic music in theatre, brought to life by voices that could only be described as angelic.
With a full house in attendance, the audience was clearly delighted as the ensemble moved seamlessly through an array of musical treasures, including selections from Les Misérables, Wicked, Hamilton, and The Lion King. Each piece was delivered with power, emotion, and remarkable musicality.
It’s easy to take this kind of talent for granted when it walks among us, but nights like this remind us that Thetford is truly a hub of artistic brilliance.
The evening was under the expert direction of Chris Parsons, Musical Director, whose leadership brought cohesion and passion to the performance. A special mention goes to Fiona Barnett, an exceptional pianist whose accompaniment elevated every moment, and Simon Barnett on percussion, who brought rhythm and energy with both subtlety and impact.
It was also a joy to witness the angelic performance of Thursday Nights, an all-female vocal group that delivered one of the evening’s most memorable moments. Each member is a phenomenal talent, but when they sing together, it’s nothing short of a match made in heaven. Their varied voices fused into one stunning harmony, creating a sound that was rich, emotional, and unforgettable.
Led by the inspiring Sally Bauer, a standout in her own right and also a beloved member of the Thetford Singers, Thursday Nights offered a performance that was both soulful and technically dazzling.
A standing ovation well-earned, and a memory well-cherished. Thetford, you’ve outdone yourself.
