As the Mayor of Thetford, I believe it’s essential to recognize and celebrate the leaders who are shaping the future of our wider community. Today, I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Cllr Samantha Taylor on her appointment as the new Chairman of Breckland Council. It is truly inspiring to see someone take on such a significant role with energy, innovative ideas, and a genuine passion for making a positive difference.
Regrettably, due to unforeseen family health issues, I was unable to attend her recent civic reception. Family responsibilities can sometimes demand our immediate attention, and while I am disappointed not to have been there in person to welcome her and show my support, I want to express my sincere apologies and assure her that my thoughts and best wishes are with her during this important time.
As Mayor of Thetford, I remain committed to attending as many public engagements as possible. I firmly believe that public service, though often demanding, is essential to fostering collaboration, maintaining open communication, and developing initiatives that truly serve our residents. Meeting people face-to-face, hearing their concerns, and working together are critical steps in ensuring our efforts are both impactful and meaningful.
Having followed her journey and witnessed her dedication to public service, I am confident that Cllr Samantha Taylor will lead Breckland with strength, clarity, and purpose. Her ideas, experience, and capacity for delivering positive change are exactly what our communities need in today’s evolving world. I wholeheartedly support and celebrate her appointment. Women bring essential perspectives and strengths to leadership, and I believe her role will continue to inspire others who aspire to make a difference.
As civic leaders, I believe it’s vital that we cultivate strong collaborations and shared goals for the benefit of all our communities. I look forward to working closely with Cllr Samantha Taylor and her team, exchanging ideas, supporting initiatives, and building a regional vision that promotes unity, growth, and mutual success.
In closing, I extend my very best wishes to Cllr Taylor in her new role. Your leadership is a welcome and promising addition to our region, and I am confident that Breckland will thrive under your guidance. I look forward to meeting you soon, celebrating your achievements, and continuing our work together in service of our communities with dedication, integrity, and shared purpose.
Thank you for understanding my absence. Please know that I am cheering you on from afar. The future looks bright, and I’m excited about what we can accomplish together.
