On July 22, 2025, I had the privilege of attending the 100th Air Refueling Wing’s Change of Command ceremony at RAF Mildenhall. These occasions are always meaningful, not just for those in uniform, but for the wider community that proudly supports the base and its mission.
We offered a heartfelt farewell to Col. Ryan Garlow, whose tenure as commander was marked by excellence, professionalism, and a deep commitment to both his Airmen and our local community. Under his leadership, the wing upheld the legacy of the “Bloody Hundredth” through operational achievements, community engagement, and an unwavering commitment to high standards. His presence will be missed, and I thank him sincerely for his service and partnership.
At the same time, we welcomed Col. Steven Byrum as the new commander of the 100th ARW. As Maj. Gen. Paul Moga passed the guidon, symbolizing the official transfer of command, it was clear that the wing’s future remains in strong, capable hands. I offer Col. Byrum my full support as he leads the 100th into its next chapter, continuing its proud legacy of readiness and excellence.
The bond between Thetford and the 100th ARW is rooted in shared history, mutual respect, and strong community ties. I look forward to working with Col. Byrum and his team to further strengthen that relationship in the years ahead.
