My Purpose as a Town Councillor

I became a Town Councillor because I know what it feels like to be pushed aside and ignored.

For a long time, I saw issues in our community that weren’t being addressed and I experienced first-hand how easy it is for voices to be overlooked.

 

Instead of just complaining about it, I decided to step up and be one of the voices that gets heard.

There are 18 councillors on Thetford Town Council. I may only be one of them but one voice can still speak up for those who feel left behind.

My purpose is simple:
To represent those who often go unheard, to raise concerns that might otherwise be ignored, and to help make real, positive changes in the place we call home. 

My purpose is to make the work of the Council more transparent and to narrow the divide between local government and our community. I want people to understand what we do, how decisions are made, and most importantly how they can have a say.

This isn’t about power, it’s about service, honesty, and connection. My aim is to make the council more open, more accountable, and more responsive to the people it serves and to help make real, positive changes in the place we call home. 

Here’s my goals for Thetford:

  • Youth Empowerment
    Supporting young people with vocational training, mentoring, and career development opportunities.

  • Community Support & Inclusion
    Providing accessible advice, crisis support, and promoting inclusion for all, especially migrants and minority groups.

  • Local Economy & Investment
    Driving economic growth through business engagement, trade partnerships, and attracting investment to Thetford.

  • Culture & Heritage
    Preserving local history and revitalising heritage spaces like St. Peter’s Church to inspire civic pride.

  • Legal Advocacy & Good Governance
    Championing transparency, independence, and using legal expertise to protect and represent community interests.

  • Civic Engagement & Volunteerism
    Encouraging public involvement through local initiatives, volunteering, and civic education.

  • Crisis Response & Resilience
    Developing strong community support systems for emergencies like food insecurity and isolation.

  • Sustainability & Infrastructure
    Advocating for well-maintained public spaces and promoting environmentally responsible community development.

  • International Collaboration
    Relaunching a dynamic twinning association and strengthening ties with embassies and global partners to benefit Thetford.

    Our green areas, public buildings, and facilities should serve everyone and be protected and improved where needed.

  • Creating a stronger, fairer Thetford

  • I want to see a town where people look out for each other, where opportunities are shared, and where no one is left behind.

  • Being a real voice in the room

Even if I can’t change everything, I can make sure important issues are raised  and keep pushing until people take notice. I am what you see and hear, I have no hiden agendas, nor I have political aspirations.  What you see is what you get.
